Baby Kangas Wash & Care Guide

We recommend that you wash your new diapers at least once before first use. Washing will "break in" the fibres, preparing them to be as absorbent as possible. When you receive your new diapers, please be sure to try one on your child to ensure your satisfaction, before washing your whole supply. We are unable to accept returns on washed or used cloth diapers.

Storage & Washing

We recommend you wash your soiled Baby Kangas no more than 3 days after use.
Knock any solids into the toilet, then separate the insert from the diaper and place both in a dry pail. On wash day, toss all together into the washer and follow these steps:

  1. Run a rinse on cold. You can leave your diapers to soak in the cold water if you wish.
  2. Run a warm or hot wash using 1/4 to 1/2 of recommended amount of laundry detergent.
  3. Follow with 2 cold rinses.
  4. Tumble dry on medium or low, or hang to dry.

A note about detergent...

Over time, detergents may build up on fleece, causing it to retain smells or repel fluids. Remember to use 1/2 or 1/4 of the amount of detergent that is recommended by its manufacturer to prevent detergent build-up. Always be sure to rinse your diapers well after washing.

Some low- or zero-residue detergents are:

Please note that many detergents contain natural oils. While these oils help clean clothes, they may interfere with your diaper's ability to absorb liquids, as oils build up on fleece and create a barrier. Please avoid the use of detergents containing any amount of oil or other water-repelling substances.

Do not use bleach or fabric softeners, or diaper rash creams with your Baby Kangas.
